Wasn’t that a party!

Everyone agrees that Julie Masi and her great musician friends did not disappoint us!  We hit the dance floor the moment the band struck the first cord and we danced until the final Juno Award winning song of “Rise Up!” was sung by all.  You sure know how to get us moving Julie!  Thanks to all the musicians who joined Julie and showed us what you are made of!

With 4 full sets of dancing tunes it was hard for many of us to get away long enough to buy raffle tickets or a wine cork for 20 bucks that would get you a twenty to forty dollar bottle of wine. For those of you who did get a chance to purchase raffle tickets and wine wall corks know that you helped us raise $5,300.00 this year for Prostate Cancer Supportive programming here in the Okanagan Valley.  Way to go!

$5,300.00 for Prostate Cancer Supportive programming here in the Okanagan Valley!

Special thanks to all of our sponsors who contributed. Please patronize these businesses to show how much we appreciate their support!

What a spread Christine Rondeau of Bonne Bouche Event Catering put on! There was definitely was no shortage of food for the perogy and rye bread lovers in the crowd.  Next year perhaps two lines?  Thanks to Glenda Crawford’s Black Tie Bartending and her team who kept everyone well-watered during the evening.

What can we say about our volunteers!?  Let’s be honest. Without you this event would not be viable. From set-up to tear-down and everything in between, our volunteers worked their butts off!  Hope you all had fun too and please, we need you, so come back again next year.

Speaking about next year, planning has already begun for the 6thAnnual Winnipeg Social in Kelowna. November 7, 2020 Parkinson Recreational Centre.  More details to come next year.

Thanks to all of you who bought tickets for this important cause. As you many of you know Julie Masi’s husband Agostino died of Prostate Cancer in 2010 which is what lead her to organize this important annual event.

It’s more than fundraising,

it’s also about awareness.

Prostate Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among men. Statistics show that Prostate cancer is treatable and the survivor rates are high if caught in the early stage.  Because symptoms are not always apparent in the early stages of this disease, routine screening is absolutely critical.  For more information on Prostate Cancer please click here go to BC Cancer Care web site.

Finally, if you had your picture taken by Flash & Frames roving photographer it’s probably here. Click here to check out the social photos.

Till next year!
Julie & Friends

Hello Winnipeg Social in Kelowna fans.

It’s me, Julie.  I’m so excited. Tomorrow (November 9th) is finally here—the big day we get to ROCK IT OUT WINNIPEG STYLE!  I am so happy to bring this event for the 5thyear in a row to Kelowna in honour of my late husband Agostino who passed away from Prostate Cancer in 2010.

JUST A FEW REMINDERS ABOUT THE EVENT.

If you plan to drink, please plan a safe ride home.

Consider supporting us by purchasing wine from our WINE WALL.  For $20.00 you get a great bottle of wine from one of our wine sponsors that is at least worth that or more.  Any wine purchased will be distributed as you leave—it is not for consumption in the venue.

Purchase some raffle tickets.  Several local businesses have generously donated great prizes and some of the items are pretty amazing like an awesome SHARK motorcycle helmet from ValleyMotoSport and a beautiful Bulova man’s watch from J.K Schmidt Jewellers. Raffle tickets are 5 for $10.00. There is no limit on how many you can buy.

We also have a Jets Jersey and a $500.00 Staycation from AVista Villa up for grabs. 50/50 tickets – winners receive half of what we bring in, and just for coming… we have a door prize donated by Tim Horton’s—everyone is eligible to win just for buying a ticket to the social.

DON’T FORGET TO GRAB A BITE BEFORE YOU COME.  Our famous Winnipeg “SOCIAL FOOD” of rye bread, cold cuts, cheeses, pickles and perogies is a snack, not a dinner and will not be served until later in the evening.

Finally, although this event is for funding Prostate Cancer supportive programming in Kelowna and creating awareness that EARLY DIAGNOSES IS CLEARLY CRITICAL TO SURVIVAL it’s also about networking and having fun!  So make sure you have your dancing shoes on, my Friends and I have been working on our set list to bring you all of your favorite dance tunes.

Thank you to everyone for supporting this event.
